Results and recaps from the opening round of the OSAA football playoffs, Nov. 8-9:

6A

Tigard 56, Century 20: Top-seeded Tigard built a 56-0 halftime lead in the home win. Drew Carter completed 9 of 12 passes for 205 yards and five touchdowns, three to Kameron Hosley and two to Hunter Gilbert, who also had an interception return for a touchdowns. Max Lenzy returned a punt and an interception for scores.

Mountainside 17, Clackamas 7: Sophomore Brian Mannion threw two touchdown passes to junior Andrew Simpson as the Mavericks won in their first playoff game in school history. Simpson also had an interception.

Barlow 19, Glencoe 14: Jaren Hunter threw two touchdown passes to Durham Sundberg for the Bruins, who led 19-0 and held off the Crimson Tide. Glencoe scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns and drove to the Barlow 36-yard line on its final possession.

Sheldon 35, Jefferson 0: Sheldon held a potent Jefferson offense to 78 yards all game long in the Irish’s 35-0 shutout win. Griffin Line ran for three scores and threw for two more for Sheldon, which won a playoff game for the 20th straight year.

West Linn 70, Roosevelt 29: Ethan Coleman completed 17 of 25 passes for 411 yards and six touchdowns with three interceptions for West Linn. Clay Masters had seven catches for 170 yards and three scores and Gavin Haines caught two touchdown passes and ran for a score for the Lions, who amassed more than 600 yards.

Sherwood 49, McNary 7: The Bowmen dominated start to finish. The Celtics came in on a four-game winning streak but had no answer to Sherwood’s wing-T offense and no ability to solve the Bowmen’s relentless defense, led by linebacker Bryan Cuthbertson, who had 16 tackles. Both Clay Peden and Jamison Guerra eclipsed 100 yards rushing for Sherwood. They scored twice apiece.

Newberg 28, South Medford 0: In its first home playoff game in 19 years, Newberg recorded its third consecutive shutout and fifth of the season. Cody Meade (two sacks) and Armen Tarakhchyan (interception) led the defense while Price Pothier rushed for 124 yards and one touchdown.

Central Catholic 63, Southridge 21: Cade Knighton completed 10 of 13 passes, four for touchdowns, as the Rams dominated the Skyhawks. Kalvin Souders caught two touchdown passes and Elijah Elliott rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns for Central Catholic.

Lake Oswego 55, Grants Pass 33: Reigning 6A champion Lake Oswego scored seven rushing touchdowns in the home win. Recent Stanford commit Casey Filkins ran for four scores in the first half and threw touchdown pass to Thomas Dukart as the Lakers built a 35-21 lead at halftime. Chase Coyle threw three touchdown passes and Spencer Sloan scored twice, including a 99-yard kickoff return, in the loss for the Cavemen.

West Salem 28, Sunset 14: Nate Garcia rushed for 216 yards and two touchdowns for West Salem. Jackson Lowery added a touchdown run and touchdown throw for the Titans.

Lakeridge 48, Beaverton 27: Jalen John ran for 204 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries and Cooper Justice completed 12 of 15 passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a score as the Pacers throttled the host Beavers. Justice also ran for a touchdown. Beaverton’s Carson Budke threw four touchdown passes, two to Cody Davidson.

Aloha 63, Bend 35: Aloha pulled away after leading 35-28 at half. Timothy Dennis Jr. threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third in that pivotal quarter then added another touchdown run midway through the fourth to salt the game away. The senior signal caller finished with four touchdown passes. Sir Charles Mitchell scored twice for Aloha, including an 82-yard kickoff return in the second quarter. 

Tualatin 69, Westview 27: The Timberwolves trailed 15-14 but pulled away for the win as Luke Marion scored touchdowns rushing, receiving and on an interception return. Kainoa Sayre ran for 160 yards on eight carries for Tualatin. Brayden Libby threw four touchdown passes for Westview, two to London Smalley, who had 11 catches for 187 yards.

North Medford 55, Reynolds 49 (OT): The Black Tornado rallied from down 13 points in the fourth quarter to tie at 49-49 on a nine-yard pass from Brennan Stults to Jeff Carpenter, then won it in overtime on a 25-yard pass from Stults to Bryce Dyer. Stults completed 26 of 45 passes for 395 yards and seven touchdowns, three to Carpenter, with one interception.

Liberty 52, Grant 49: Kane McNabb kicked a 27-yard field goal with 1.9 seconds left to give the Falcons the road win. Liberty tied at 49-49 on an 85-yard pass from Hiro Diamond to Cole Smith with 51 seconds left, and got an interception from Jaxson Lake to set up the winning kick.

Jesuit 56, Oregon City 9: Jesuit held Oregon City to 35 yards of offense in the first half to build a 42-3 lead and coasted to the win. The Crusaders got two rushing touchdowns each from Kade Wisher and Ted Atkinson.

Thurston 61, Corvallis 21: The reigning champion Colts led 40-0 into the third quarter and coasted to the win. Wes Kommer ran for four touchdowns and caught another from Cade Crist. The defense also was stout in the first half, highlighted by Dawson Muggy’s pick six.

Wilsonville 34, North Bend/Powers 14: Mason Dean had four interceptions for Wilsonville, which broke a 7-7 tie at the half with 27 points. Jayce Knapp threw for 358 yards and three touchdowns, Payton Dart had more than 200 yards receiving and two scores and Jacob Haussermann kicked two field goals in the win. Senior Divenson Willis rushed for 80 yards and a score for North Bend.

Scappoose 23, Pendleton 14: The Indians -- who had lost four times to Pendleton in the last two seasons, including two games on the road this season – got payback with the win. Quarterback Jakobi Kessi ran for two touchdowns for Scappoose.

Silverton 55, La Salle Prep 7: Hayden Roth ran for a 99-yard touchdown and finished with 226 yards on 12 carries to lead the Foxes past the visiting Falcons. Nate Gubbels had two interceptions for Silverton.

West Albany 56, Redmond 13: Zack Cehrs made the most of the start for West Albany, rushing for 216 yards and three touchdowns. Brenden Powell scored an early touchdown for Redmond, and undefeated West Albany responded with the next 56 points.

Ashland 50, Dallas 19: Rieger Sayre threw for 283 yards and five touchdowns, two to Gabe Ekwall, and ran for a score for the Grizzlies.

Parkrose 59, Lebanon 20: The Broncos got their first playoff win in school history by overwhelming the visiting Warriors. Tre Singleton passed for four touchdowns, ran for a score and added a touchdown on an interception return for Parkrose, which led 22-0 in the second quarter.

Crater 49, Hillsboro 0: Gavin Acrey rushed for 177 yards and four touchdowns and the Comets posted their third consecutive shutout and fifth of the season.

Banks 28, Marshfield 22: Tanner Shook threw three touchdown passes, two to Jacob Slifka, as the reigning champion Braves shook off a 9-0 deficit and beat the Pirates.

Baker 38, Cascade 21: Spencer Shirtcliff completed 11 of 24 passes for 302 yards and two touchdowns -- including an 88-yarder to Riley Flanagan to open a 31-21 lead -- and ran for two scores to lead Baker. Flanagan had six catches for 195 yards.

Marist Catholic 20, Seaside 13: Hayden Loboy rushed for 135 yards and Lucas Patterson had 166 yards combined running and receiving for Marist Catholic, which played without injured quarterback Max Campbell., who was injured in the regular-season finale and missed practice early in the week.

North Marion 47, Stayton 27: Sergio Jimenez completed 19 of 24 passes for 287 yards and four touchdowns, two each to Brady Hansen and Tanner Saucedo, who had five catches for 124 yards and added an interception on defense.

La Grande 49, Estacada 16: Blaine Shaw caught three touchdown passes and returned a punt for a score to lead the Tigers, who opened a 35-0 lead in the third quarter. Isaiah Schaffer threw two touchdown passes for the Rangers.

Gladstone 51, North Valley 14: Mason Scheehean ran for four touchdowns for the Gladiators, which also got two touchdowns from Sabastian Peiffer.

The Dalles 49, Henley 18: The Riverhawks raced to a 21-0 lead and held on for the road win over the Hornets. Gabe Helseth threw five touchdown passes for The Dalles, two each to Zac Anderson and Okean Green.

Tillamook 19, Mazama 14: The Cheesemakers used four turnovers – including two fumble recoveries inside their 25-yard line and an interception near their goal line by Sam Connelly -- and a goal-line stand to stun the second-seeded Vikings on the road. Trent Stonebrink had an interception with six seconds left to seal the win for Tillamook. Cheesemakers quarterback Chad Werner threw ttwo touchdown passes and ran for a score.

Hidden Valley 40, Siuslaw 12: Sam Vidlak threw four touchdown passes, two to Jeremiah Noga, to lead the Mustangs to the win. Tobias Powers ran for 128 yards for Hidden Valley. Siuslaw’s Hector Garcia ran for 176 yards on 33 carries.

Cascade Christian 54, Sutherlin 18: Kiegan Schaan threw for 235 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two scores as the Challengers gave coach Jon Gettman his 100th win. Cade Sample had four catches for 145 yards and two scores and ran for a touchdown for Cascade Christian.

Rainier 40, Madras 7: The Columbians dominated with their running game, throwing only five passes, to end Madras’ four-game winning streak.

Amity 44, Brookings-Harbor 18: Cody Dyche ran for two touchdowns and caught a 40-yard scoring pass from Keenan Graham as the Warriors rolled. Wyatt Hatch also had a touchdown catch for Amity.

Burns 35, Scio 8

Clatskanie 56, St. Mary’s 27: The Tigers outscored St. Mary’s 24-0 in the third quarter to open a 36-14 halftime lead and coast to the win. Tre Foster of St. Mary’s had eight catches for 246 yards and three touchdowns.

Vale 27, Yamhill-Carlton 23: Pete McBride caught a 29-yard touchdown pass from Colton Kesey with about one minute left as the visiting Vikings handed the Tigers their first loss of the season. Kesey passed for 184 yards and rushed for 80 yards. Yamhill-Carlton quarterback Jaime Garcia rushed for 148 yards.

Santiam Christian 50, Nyssa 7: Ely Kennel threw for 135 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 115 yards and one score as the Eagles routed Nyssa.

Kennedy 35, Grant Union 6: Bruce Beyer rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns and Dylan Kleinschmit passed for 194 yards and two scores in the win for the reigning champion Trojans.

Oakland 20, Glide 6: Corbin Picknell rushed for 236 yards and one touchdown and threw a scoring pass to lead Oakland.

Toledo 62, Lost River 32: Toledo uarterback Jaxon Rozewski completed 15 of 17 passes for 376 yards and four touchdowns, all to Donovan Villanueva, who had six catches for 192 yards. Kyle Hayner rushed for 147 yards and four touchdowns on 14 carries in the winning effort.

Monroe 57, Colton 22: Dylan Irwin scored three times in the first half as Monroe built a 38-8 lead. Irwin finished with five touchdowns to go with 163 rushing yards. Brody Ballard ran for two touchdowns and threw for two scores as well as forcing a fumble and grabbing an interception, along with 11 tackles. Wyatt Earls rushed for 141 and two touchdowns for Colton.

Heppner 49, Bandon 0: The unbeaten Mustangs led 42-0 at half on their way to the home win. Blake Wolters rushed for three touchdowns and Jayden Wilson passed for two scores and ran for another.

Warrenton 35, Sheridan 20: Jacob Morrow rushed for 202 yards and three touchdowns and Hordie Bodden ran for 98 yards and two scores for Warrenton, which also got a big game on defense from Sam Irwin, who had two tackles for loss and recovered a fumble.

Knappa 38, Culver 22: Cameron Miethe and quarterback Eli Takalo combined to rush for 237 yards and four touchdowns as the Loggers advanced. Zach Wiseman rushed for 146 yards and two scores for Culver.

Coquille 44, Santiam 6: The Red Devils ran over the Wolverines with Gunner Yates (181 yards, 17 carries) and Ean Smith (122 yards, 22 carries), putting up nearly 400 total yards.

St. Paul 58, Elgin 6: Gianni Grasso rushed for three touchdowns and TJ Crawford threw three touchdown passes for the Buckaroos. St. Paul rushed for 387 yards, getting 142 from Mitchell Curtis.

Days Creek 50, Pilot Rock/Nixyaawii 34: Jackson Williams rushed for 127 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries as the Wolves led wire-to-wire to eliminate the injury-plagued Rockets. Pilot Rock’s Logan Weinke had 188 receiving yards, a touchdown catch and scoring run.

Powder Valley 68, Lowell 62: Down by two points, Powder Valley recovered a fumble with two minutes left and got the go-ahead touchdown on a pass from Reece Dixon to Ethan Stephens. Powder Valley had 630 total yards as Dixon passed for 271 yards, ran for 61 yards and accounted for six touchdowns. Stephens had a hand in five touchdowns.

Camas Valley 86, Mapleton 50: The teams combined for 1,212 yards and 56 first downs in the shootout. Camas Valley finished with 687 yards, including 525 on the ground as it got big games from Jared Hunt (15 carries, 232 yards, five touchdowns) and River Wolfe (12 carries, 212 yards, four touchdowns). Mapleton's JJ Neece threw for three touchdowns and ran for three scores.

Crane 60, Triad 6

Dufur 22, Perrydale 14: Cooper Bales rushed for 160 yards and one touchdown and threw a scoring pass to Caleb Olson to lead the Rangers. Jacob Peters had a touchdown run for Dufur, which trailed 14-8 in the third quarter.

Hosanna Christian 60, North Douglas 28: Will Maupin caught two touchdown passes from Spencer Crawford, Mikey Sanchas ran for two scores and Kenny Tuttle returned an interception 35 yards for a score for Hosanna Christian.

Adrian/Jordan Valley 70, Butte Falls/Crater Lake Char. Acad. 0: Conley Martin completed 8 of 10 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 137 yards and four scores on 11 carries to lead the Antelopes. Michael Babcock ran for 181 yards and two touchdowns and Wade Bond had five catches for 136 yards and two scores. Adrian held Butte Falls to 124 total yards, getting interceptions from Kort Skinner and Blaise Warn and two sacks from Sebastian Munoz.
