Senior QB Owen Hagerman threw for 252 yards and three TDs while junior QB Carter Powers, battling for the starting spot still, had 155 yards and a touchdown. ... Sandy outscored Sunset 56-32 thanks to seven total touchdowns by the Pioneers. McNary kept it close, but ultimately it was two fourth-quarter touchdowns that got Redmond the 28-12 victory on the road. Kameron Losoya scored twice on the ground while Parker Gibson and Carter Wachs caught the two fourth-quarter touchdowns. ... A 21-point third quarter powered Central to a 28-12 victory over Eagle Point. Quarterback JT Girod went 21-for-30 for 226 yards and three TDs while the Panthers’ defense recovered two fumbles. ... A couple Jose Rodriguez touchdowns for Crater weren’t enough as Marshfield took down the Comets 41-30. The Pirates had 297 yards on the ground and five rushing touchdowns to get the win.

QB Conner Johnson connected with Hunter Christensen, who then lateralled the ball to Jackson Swanson, who carried it 31 of the 55 total yards on the play to the house. ... No. 2 Cascade made quick work of Baker in a 36-6 victory. Matthew Hinkle returned a block punt for a touchdown and had two touchdowns on the ground to build a 36-0 lead at halftime. ... Logan Mitchell threw for 56 yards and two TDs while Bryson Cates and Josh Brackenbury each ran for a TD in a 27-6 victory for The Dalles over Umatilla. ...
A bad snap on a punt led to the first score, then a scramble TD by Jack Wright made it 14-0 Burns in what was ultimately a 42-0 blanking of Ontario to open the year. ... Junior Kevin Hurliman threw for 139 yards and a TD to help No. 6 Tillamook down No. 7 Estacada 24-6. The Rangers offense was stymied all night while the Cheesemakers were held scoreless in the second half. But touchdown runs from Griffyn Boomer and Joshua Manns in the first half were enough for the win. ... No. 4 Scappoose ran away from No. 10 Pendleton/Nixyaawii in a 56-29 win at home. With Pendleton up 14-13 and 3:35 left in the first half, Scappoose scored three more touchdowns with a scoop and score fumble from Brayden Miller and a 75-yard kickoff return from Nolan Lennox after Pendleton had scored to make it 28-21. QB William Kessi threw TD passes to Dexter Olson in the second half, and Elijah Greenan Biggs scored his second TD of the game on the ground to ultimately allow Scappoose to pull away.

Pirates junior QB Trae Casteel threw for four touchdowns and rushed for another to be involved in all five scores. ... No. 2 Cascade Christian won an early top-five matchup with No. 4 Vale on Saturday 29-13. Bryson Walker had 132 yards and two rushing TDs while Caleb Scaglione had one rushing TD and caught a 27-yard TD pass from Deryk Farmer in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

No. 1 St. Paul maintained its edge on No. 2 Oakland in a rematch of last year’s state title game with the Buckaroos escaping once again, this time 28-22. The Bucks led 22-6 at halftime before Oakland made a comeback to try and close the gap. ... Sheridan came back to take a 22-20 win over Oakridge after trailing 14-0. Travis Lugo scored a 2-yard touchdown to get the Spartans back in it while QB Benicio DePiero had some big runs to lead the comeback. ... Gold Beach turned back No. 9 Weston-McEwen 32-14 at home thanks to a strong ground game led by Nolan Timeus and Darryn Westerman. The two combined for 167 yards and Timeus had three TDs, meanwhile the defense picked up four sacks between Aidan Keller, JJ Logan and Dexter Moore. ... 2A No. 3 Heppner did all its damage in the first half of a 43-6 win over 1A-8 No. 4 Crane. Caleb George ran for 40 yards and three TDs as the Mustangs ended the game with 302 total yards on the ground. QB Caylan Proudfoot completed four passes for 51 yards and a score.

All the points scored in No. 8 Powder Valley’s 20-8 win over Echo came in the first half as the Badgers opened the year with a win. Silas Talbot scored two touchdowns for the Badgers, one a 5-yard run and the other a 60-yard TD pass from Jordan Little who had two passing TDs on the night. ... Pilot Rock/Ukiah went up 34-0 at halftime and cruised to the 42-8 victory over Pine Eagle behind a big game from Carter VanHouten. The senior threw for 155 yards and four touchdowns, and also ran the ball for 145 yards and two more TDs. ... Cove won at Enterprise 40-18 behind Will Williams, who rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns and had two sacks. Jonah Layne threw a touchdown pass and ran for a 51-yard score and Brody Fite rushed for two touchdowns and had two interceptions.

Reigning state champion Powers -- shorthanded with eight players this season -- bolted to a 19-0 lead after four minutes and held on for a wire-to-wire 45-40 win over Alsea.
