Dec. 25 Statewide Boys Basketball Coaches Polls

OSAAtoday presents its weekly statewide Boys Basketball Coaches Polls in all classifications. Thanks to all the coaches who took the time and had the expertise to contribute their opinions to this endeavor.

Please note: these polls are for generating interest and discussion only and have no impact on the OSAA’s RPI and Colley ratings that form the basis of the OSAA’s rankings for playoff purposes.

Notes: Jefferson regains the top spot, which it relinquished after losing at Barlow 99-95 in overtime Dec. 7. The Democrats lost at Richland (Wash.) 80-67 on Saturday. ... Lake Oswego beat Barlow 68-66, rallying from an 11-point deficit in the second half behind Josh Angle, who scored 32 points, including the winning basket with three seconds left. ... Reigning champion Grant split four games at a tournament in Nevada. ... The entire top 10 will play in the Les Schwab Invitational this week at Liberty High School.

Churchill moves into the top spot after beating Thurston 62-55 last week. Juniors Brian Goracke and Silas Bennion scored 24 and 23 points, respectively, for the host Lancers. ... Wilsonville suffered its first defeat, falling to Centennial (Calif.) 77-62 in the final of the 16-team Capital City Classic despite 20 points and 10 assists from guard Jack Roche. ... Notes: Dayton moves up to No. 1 after defeating Horizon Christian 54-33 and then-No. 1 Santiam Christian 59-47 in the Dayton Holiday Tournament. It was the same score Dayton beat Santiam Christian by in the semifinals of last season's state tournament. Dayton's Braedon Nowlin scored 17 points and 6-6 Jaysen Howard had 16 points for Dayton in the win over the Eagles. ... Dayton and Santiam Christian will play in the Southern Oregon Subura Christmas Classic at Cascade Christian High School in Medford this week. ...
