Top-seeded Crane held off High Desert League rival Jordan Valley 45-35 in the quarterfinals of the OSAA/OnPoint Community Credit Union 1A girls basketball tournament Thursday at Baker High School.

The Mustangs (28-1), 2020 champions and winners of last year's culminating week tournament, defeated No. 9 Jordan Valley (24-6) for the fifth time in as many meetings this season.

Taylor Joyce had 10 points and six rebounds and Kortney Doman added six points, 12 rebounds and three assists as the Mustangs won their 25th in a row after having their 47-game winning streak snapped by Damascus Christian.

Crane led 16-5 in the second quarter before Jordan Valley pulled to within 20-14 at half. The Mustangs extended the lead to 41-29 midway through the fourth quarter before Jordan Valley's Tayler Eiguren hit back-to-back three-pointers to make it 41-35 with 1:34 left. Crane closed out the win with four free throws.

Eiguren had 17 points and 16 rebounds to lead Jordan Valley.

No. 4 Country Christian 53, No. 5 Nixyaawii 46: Elizabeth Grandle had 21 points and 14 rebounds and McKenzie Syphard added 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Cougars (24-6) past the Golden Eagles (24-5).

Syphard had two baskets during an 8-0 run as Country Christian opened a 45-37 lead with 6:28 left. Nixyaawii got no closer than four points the rest of the way.

The Cougars had a 53-40 edge in rebounds. They made 20 of 34 free throws compared to 5 of 12 for the Golden Eagles.

Sistine Moses made three three-pointers and scored 16 points for Nixyaawii, which wiped out a nine-point deficit in the third quarter to pull ahead 35-34 on a free throw by Sophie Bronson.

Country Christian advances to the semifinals to play Crane. The teams met in the final of the culminating week tournament last year, with Crane winning 75-54.

No. 3 Damascus Christian 51, No. 11 Trout Lake (Wash.) 27: The Eagles (24-2) advanced to the semifinals for the third time in four season, forcing 29 turnovers in the runaway win over the Mustangs (13-4).

Emily Powers had 16 points, two assists and three steals and Sierra Hale added 12 points on four three-pointers for Damascus Christian. Wynsome Painter led Trout Lake with six points, nine rebounds and two steals.

Hale made two three-pointers during a 15-0 run that opened a 29-9 lead in the second quarter.

No. 2 North Douglas 54, No. 7 Echo 37: The Warriors (26-3) built a 15-0 lead early in the second quarter and held off the Cougars (18-5) to advance to a semifinal date with Damascus Christian.

Brooke McHaffie, Cyndi Dill and Savannah Harkins each scored 10 points for North Douglas, which lost in the quarterfinals the last two years. Faith McCarty had 18 points, six rebounds and three steals for Echo, which also got 12 points and eight rebounds from Sydney Bracher.

The Cougars fought back to within 33-28 on a jumper by Mayela DelaFuente early in the fourth quarter, but North Douglas responded with a 12-0 run to lead 45-28 with 4:01 left.

It was Echo's first state tournament appearance since winning the B title in 1981.
