Sprague dance team celebrating its win at David Douglas.

Dance team season is looking a little different this year but has been met with a lot of success.

Previously dance was split into two seasons throughout the year -- category and traditional -- but has now since chosen to compete the category divisions exclusively .

Prior to heading into winter break, we have seen 38 high school dance teams compete in hip hop, jazz, modern, contemporary, kick, pom and novelty categories .

Canby celebrated three wins at Putnam. Canby took first place in both the modern and contemporary divisions during all three competitive weekends.

Sprague also received first-place wins at competitions in the novelty category at competitions hosted by David Douglas, Nelson and Putnam

Junior Audrey Caulder on being back to competition season "Being back at competition for the first time this year was an exhilarating rush, a perfect beginning to start the season!".

"I love how supportive the community always is when at competition," said Sprague sophomore dancer Gillian Rodriguez Lentz.

Dancers will resume competitions Jan. 14 with events hosted by Clackamas and Sprague.
