Highlights from Wednesday's softball playoff games:
6A second round
No. 19 Tigard rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh inning for a 4-2 win over third-seeded Oregon City, the state runner-up the last two seasons. Trailing 2-1, Tigard's Ella Dardis hit a two-out, two-strike RBI double to tie, and scored the go-ahead run on a single by Kiarra Belli. The Tigers added an insurance run and closed out the Pioneers behind pitcher Avery Rust, who pitched a four-hitter with nine strikeouts. Dardis led off the game with a solo homer off Oregon City's Lily Riley, who struck out 16 and allowed seven hits and one walk. Riley hit a solo home run to give the Pioneers a 2-1 lead. …
Visiting McNary handled North Medford 13-3 in five innings. Aspynn Westby went 3 for 4, Josalyn Netzel went 2 for 4 with a three-run homer and Karah Miller went 2 for 4 with four RBIs. Ashlyn Wittnebel pitched a complete game. … Kendall Atwood hit a three-run double in the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie and propel host West Linn to a 4-1 win over Forest Grove. … Maisy Schindler hit a solo home run in Sherwood's 3-1 home win over West Salem. Faith McHill and Destiny Cornwell shared time in the circle for Sherwood, combining to strike out 11. … Payton Burnham led reigning champion Sheldon past Southwest Conference rival South Medford 4-0. She pitched a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts and no walks and had two hits, including a solo homer. Brooke Peterson had two hits and an RBI. …
Kallan Bordwell Gray had three hits and three RBIs and Bridgette Boling had two hits and three RBIs for top-seeded Westview, which rapped 15 hits in a 9-3 win over Barlow. Ana Fifita and Sophia Groshong had two hits each. Fifita, Bordwell Gray and Boling shared time in the circle. Fifita struck out 10 in 4 2/3 innings. … Sloane Swenson sparked Southridge to a 4-0 win at Metro League rival Jesuit, pitching a four-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks and going 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Sierra Llamas had two hits, including an RBI double. … Bailey Farrimond pitched a five-hitter with three strikeouts and one walk as visiting Glencoe knocked off Central Catholic 8-0. Irene VanDyke had two triples and a single for the Crimson Tide, which also got multiple-hit games from Farrimond, Makena Petrick and Tuesday Mevis.
3A second round
Dayton scored seven runs in the seventh inning to overtake Valley Catholic 9-4 at Wilsonville High School. The Pirates won with the long ball, getting home runs from Lillie Brooks (four RBIs), Brin Shilhanek (two RBIs), Rylie Hedgecock (two RBIs) and Charly Upmeyer. Valley Catholic took a 4-0 lead in the first inning, but Upmeyer came into the game in relief and pitched seven shutout innings, giving up two hits, striking out nine and walking one. Kyra Navari went 3 for 3 for Dayton. ... South Umpqua scored nine runs in the first inning, getting home runs from Kaydence Norton and Ava White, on its way to beating Banks 10-0 in five innings. Reaghan Gilbert tossed a two-hitter and went 3 for 3 with a double. …
Kaya Taylor threw a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk in Harrisburg's 9-1 win over Cascade Christian. Sierra Clark went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and Tess Cudmore and Jaedyn Delahunt each had two hits and an RBI for Harrisburg, which had 12 hits. …Two-time reigning state champion Burns blanked Creswell 9-0 behind Ayla Davies, who pitched a two-hitter with 16 strikeouts and two walks. Davies, Bailey Temple and Ashley Wright hit RBI doubles for the Hilanders, who took advantage of seven walks and two hit batters. Wright and Gracie Mello had two hits each. … Maddy Tuning tossed a two-hitter, striking out 14, and went 3 for 4 with a double to lead Yamhill-Carlton past Rainier 10-1. Addison Tuning went 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs and Taylor Bradfield went 2 for 4 with a double. …
Top-seeded Scio thumped Glide 16-1 in four innings. Myleigh Cooper (3 for 4, home run, five RBIs), Taryn Ramsay (3 for 3, four runs) and Meagan Trissel (3 for 3, three RBIs) led Scio's offense. … No. 13 seed Santiam Christian rallied from a 6-1 deficit to beat No. 4 Douglas 8-7. Santiam Christian scored six runs in the fifth to take a 7-6 lead, and after Douglas pulled even at 7-7 in the sixth, the Eagles pushed across the go-ahead run in the seventh. Santiam Christian had 10 hits, led by Miranda Scovil (3 for 4, double), Jaiden Jaquez (2 for 3, two RBIs), Trista Ladas (two RBIs) and Brenna Burgess (solo home run). … Enterprise won at Pleasant Hill 9-3.
2A/1A second round
Trailing 6-1 in the top of the seventh, Heppner rallied for six runs and defeated Oakland 7-6. Avery Lathrop, Maya Payne, Hadlie Nation and Katie Hendricks all had RBIs in the seventh inning. Nation and Del Stefani each had two hits for the game. … No. 2 seed Weston-McEwen rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to edge Blanchet Catholic 2-1. Ava Sams hit a one-out RBI triple to tie, and after a hit batter and a walk, Hope Berry hit a bases-loaded single with one out for the walk-off win. Hailey Stallings pitched the first 4 1/3 innings and Bre Ward went the rest of the way in the circle for Weston-McEwen. … Joey Sizemore hit a grand slam in the top of the eighth inning to lift Clatskanie to a 4-0 win at Lost River. Sizemore also pitched a three-hitter, striking out 15 and walking four. …
Top-seeded Grant Union dominated Myrtle Point 16-0 in four innings. Halle Parsons went 3 for 4 with a home run and six RBIs, Addy Northway homered and and Drew Williams drove in three runs. Williams pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts. …Willamina dispatched St. Paul 8-0 behind Laney Deloe, who pitched a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts. Lainee Hibdon went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and Sadie Risseeuw, Lily Crowe and Paisley Deloe each had a hit and an RBI. … North Douglas routed Umpqua Valley Christian 12-2 in five innings. Brooklyn Cyr held UVC to three hits and went 2 for 3 with a home run. Tehya Williams went 3 for 3 and Maddy Vaughn, Kate Miller and Bailey Teixiera hit doubles. … Jocelyn Brault hit two homers and drove in six runs -- including a walk-off grand slam -- as Salem Academy routed Toledo 18-7 in six innings. Astoria ousted Marist Catholic 16-6 in six innings in a game that started Tuesday and was resumed in the second inning Wednesday. Kya Lindell (four hits, three RBIs), Hailey Svensen (three hits, three RBIs) and Tauren Wray (solo home run) led Astoria's offense. Madi Wilkin earned the win, fanning 11. … St. Helens dropped Stayton 7-0 as Ava Eib pitched a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks. Addy Ellis went 3 for 4 and Madelyn Hancock had two hits, including a two-run double.
