Rankings Freeze and Play-In Dates Summary

4A Boys Basketball

16-team OSAA bracket

  1. Automatic Qualifiers – Twelve teams automatically qualify for the OSAA's 16-team bracket based on regular season and/or district tournament play on or before Tuesday, February 20. Each league determines how they will select their allotted playoff spots.

    Cowapa – 2; Tri-Valley – 2; Oregon West - 2; Sky Em – 2; Skyline - 2; Greater Oregon – 2

      Cowapa - Seaside, Astoria
      Tri-Valley - Madras, Crook County
      Oregon West - Cascade, Philomath
      Sky Em - Marist Catholic, Junction City
      Skyline - Henley, Phoenix
      Greater Oregon - Baker, La Grande

  2. Rankings Freeze Date – The rankings will freeze at 10pm on Tuesday, February 20.

  3. Play-In Model – Eight teams will qualify as Play-In teams based on the following criteria.

    1. Each leagues #3 seed, along with the next two highest ranked teams not already an automatic qualifier or the #3 team in each league will qualify for the play-in contest.

        2. Cowapa - Scappoose
        Tri-Valley - The Dalles
        Oregon West - North Marion
        Sky Em - Marshfield
        Skyline - Hidden Valley
        Greater Oregon - Pendleton

      Highest ranked teams not already qualified

        At-Large - Newport
        At-Large - Cottage Grove

    2. Once the eights teams have been determined for the play-in contests, they will be placed into the 4 contests based on their Ranking.

    3. Match-ups

        8 @ 1 - The Dalles @ North Marion
        7 @ 2 - Pendleton @ Marshfield
        6 @ 3 - Cottage Grove @ Newport
        5 @ 4 - Hidden Valley @ Scappoose

    4. OSAA's same league matchup policy will be utilized in determining opponents for play-in contests. Winners advance to the OSAA 16-team bracket.

  4. Rankings – Once the 16 qualifying teams are determined, they will be placed on the OSAA bracket according to OSAA Executive Board Policy "State Championships – Rankings".
