Coach Johnson will review the importance of interscholastic athletics and effective ways to communicate with parents, players and coaches. Included will be his Player/Parent Pledge that he utilizes with their parents and athletes  

Trauma Informed Care: Supporting Your Student-Athletes

Carrie Wiltbank, Clinical Supervisor, School Based Outpatient and Prevention, Trillium Family Services

In today’s world, our youth have more stress and demands placed upon them than ever before. This presentation will introduce you to the impact of stress and trauma on our students, and increase your awareness of what this can look like on and off the court/field. Additionally, the presentation will explore the role that coaches can play supporting student mental health and wellness.

Legal Issues Facing Coaches

Kim Hoyt, Managing Officer, Garrett Hemann Robertson P.C.

This presentation will address critical issues to consider when training staff and volunteers that participate in the supervision of student athletic programs, as well as the legal obligations of school district staff and volunteers to the student-athletes.
