The Committee’s and Task Force’s of the OSAA have officially wrapped up for 2018-19. Recently, the Computation of ADM Task Force, the Petition to Play Down Task Force and the Rankings Committee all concluded their work.
The Computation of ADM Task Force update can be found at http://www.osaa.org/docs/task-forces/adm-computation/06132019Summary.pdf. The Task Force is forwarding three points to the OSAA Executive Board to review this summer. 1) Timeline, 2) Counting only grades 9-11 for ADM purposes, and 3) Creating an average ADM for a school over a three-year period.
The Task Force has two major factors they’re still working on. The factor which is used for an SES reduction and how to count Associate Member school students. They will continue their work in September.
The Petition to Play Down Task Force update can be found at http://www.osaa.org/docs/task-forces/play-down-petition/update06242019.pdf. The Task Force is forwarding two points to the OSAA Executive Board to review this summer. 1) Using a points-based system to review activities from a school who is playing down. This could reassign a program within that school to their originally determined ADM placement if they have a certain level of success. 2) Currently adopted Play Down schools are down for the entire 4-year time block. The Task Force is proposing a two-year review at the middle of the time block.
The Rankings Committee update can be found at http://www.osaa.org/docs/committees/rankings/06172019minutes.pdf. The Committee had some great conversations throughout the year and have asked the OSAA staff to monitor specific scenarios, but the Committee is not proposing any significant changes to the rankings policy for 2019-20.
As always, the OSAA Committee/Task Force groups are looking for member school feedback. Please see the links above to find the direct director in charge or you can send your thoughts to [email protected].
